More than 80% of the cases occur in developing countries in the Asia-Pacific regions and sub-Saharan Africa, and China alone accounts for more than 50%. Liver cancer, predominantly HCC, is the second and sixth most lethal cancer in men and women, respectively, and occurred in about 750,000 new patients and caused 700,000 death in 2008.
